Talking Turkey

Last Thursday was my first Thanksgiving with my new boyfriend, who moved in last September. While I was recovering from surgery the day before, he was (between bedside visits) cooking a terrific fat-free green bean casserole (center of photo) and making carrot cake for the holiday. He hasn't much experience in the kitchen, but he knows how to find recipes online and did a great job of making them turn out tasty.

On Thanksgiving day, we drove over the river and through the woods (or at least over I-90 and thru the burbs) to his sister's home, where we dined with her family and their parents. It was the Great American Carb fest that most of us expect at this time of year, with multiple versions of traditional dishes to choose from. His family is great and we had a very good—and definitely a filling—time.
